Yummy, yummy, yummy. That about sums up this place. The best meal I had on the island. We sat on the patio and it happened to be the nicest weather day while there. Service was great, food was great, I would definitely recommend stopping by while on Amelia Island. The portions are huge, but just the right size. We ordered the lump crab and avocado salad, the lamb stew special and a fish sandwich special. All were delicious, fresh and tasty. The only thing missing was a glass of wine, but we working, so we had to pass.

Stopped in in the way to the beach and enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and good conversation. We will be back for dinner.

We had a great experience tonight! Our server, Eric, was outstanding! He went above and beyond in catering to my wife and daughter's special dietary needs. While other restaurants will usually confirm a dish uses milk products or not, and make a note on the ticket so the chef is aware, Eric brought out samples of sauces to let my family check it themselves. The service was superb, the food was excellent. Would dine here again when back in town! My wife is a fan of crab cakes and gets them everywhere we go... She said these were some of the best she's had outside of her favorite place in Charleston. I had the shrimp, which were loaded with flavor but not overwhelming. Loved the sausage in that dish too? My daughter had a pasta special with mussels and scallops. First time she has had mussels and this was a super introduction for her because she said it was delicious.

We have lived on the island for three years and have eaten at many of the restaurants on the island. We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to celebrate at BarZin. It was, by far, the best food that we have had on the island so far! We started with the cheese plate and spring rolls....Delicious! However, they were not as amazing as our entrees. My husband had the grouper, and I had the veal chop. Both were excellent, but the overall winner was the veal chop....cut like butter and melted in your mouth! Kudos to the chefs! Our server, Betsey, did a fantastic job. She was professional and efficient. It was a great evening, and we will definitely go back and recommend BarZin to others!!

This place was great. The atmosphere is great. The food is even better. They have some interesting dishes that you would not expect like grilled romaine salad and some of the best seafood gumbo I have ever had.
(5)Christine M.
The food, atmosphere and the service where impeccable. Must have the shrimp bruschetta...amazing. We also enjoyed the seafood pot pie and the mushroom spinach risotto with diver scallops. Both cooked to perfection!
(5)Sean C.
Great wine list and a number of interesting takes on classic fishes that were very tasty. Went there with a large group that slowed them down a bit but otherwise a great meal with good service.

This place is amazing....incredible food and a really lovely setting. We had Nicoise salads... the ahi tuna on it was some of the best we've had...highly recommend. We will definitely return!!!

We had a really nice dinner. I had the seafood gumbo which was outstanding. My wife had a duck special that was very good as well. The restaurant has a good atmosphere as well and is close to the Amelia Island Plantation. We would go back.

A last minute change in our reservation from two to fourteen was handled easily by the staff at the BarZin Bistro and Wine Bar. Debbie, our server, was professional and friendly and handled our table efficiently. The food was delicious, the servings were generous, as were the wine poursI I had a late lunch so ordered a half salad and an appetizer which were more than enough. Everyone was pleased with their dinners. I'll definitely make a return visit.

Decent short wine list. Nice lunch menu. Had the she crab soup which was excellent and the catch of the day club sandwich which was tasty. The waitress was very nice and made the visit pleasant. Will definitely return.

My sister and brother-in-law have retired as though they are on vacation to Fernandina Beach and this is but one of the fun, fabulous or amazing places to eat that we have enjoyed when we visit from NY. We dined there on New Year's Eve and not having planned to far ahead we had a rather early reservation not by choice but we rose to the occasion. For the night they had a Prix Fix menu with varied and flavorful choices and all our were enjoyed especially my sister's escargot. My scallops with risotto were perfectly cooked and most delectable. Ordered a lovely Sauvignon Blanc to accompany our varied seafood selections. Had thought that we might be hurried on a busy night but that was not the case, Attentive wait staff and the owner made a friendly visit to our table. Bar Zin Bistro is one of the great restaurants of Amelia Island . . . don't pass it up.

We have visited Bar Zin twice, once two years ago and again today, both times for lunch. My husband raved about the fish tacos on both visits - in fact, it's the reason we went back today. We aren't wine drinkers - especially at lunch - so I really can't comment on that part. On our last visit I had a crab cake sandwich which I really enjoyed and was still on the menu online, so I was kind of disappointed when they said they don't have it anymore. I had the burger instead and it was good but not as unique as the sandwich I'd come for. The decor is nice and service was good. Overall, great find on Amelia Island!

Food is great, staff is always pleasant and the owner is very accommodating. Have been many times and keep going back. This has been a nice addition to the south end of the island.

If you're planning a trip to Amelia Island make sure to enjoy at least one dinner at BarZin. We were told it was the "favorite restaurant on the island" by several local folks. And BarZin proved to be our favorite as well. The food is superb and the staff couldn't be more wonderful. Especially Debbie. They will make you feel right at home while you enjoy a memorable meal. Do yourself a favor and visit BarZin. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

We went while on a trip to Amelia island. Our server was nice and the place was really cute. We ended up getting the daily specials: the bass and the grouper. The taste of the food was average. Some seasoning and spices could've helped. The best part was the lobster spring roll on the side. We would probably come back for some wine in the future and skip the meal
(3)Joan H.
The food was delicious! I had risotto with scallops and my husband had the seafood potpie. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio and strawberry shortcake, which was to die for. The service was outstanding and very welcoming. We highly recommend!

Pros: tasty food, good atmosphere Cons: pretentious staff and patrons, overpriced, small wine list We came here to celebrate a happy occasion and sat at the bar- it was early for dinner, and we like to socialize. The bartender was condescending, and others at the bar were uninterested in friendly banter. Overall I didn't come to pay $60 per person for decent but not mind-blowing food and to be treated like 16 year olds on a date (whether we look young or not!)

Yet another fabulous restaurant on Amelia Island. We really enjoyed our dining experience here - from the warm bread, to the great wine list, to the delicious food. They even corked and beautifully wrapped our wine we didn't finish to take home with us. I strongly recommend the snapper - it is served over a bed of lobster potato hash (heavy on the lobster!). My dad seemed to love the seafood pot pie, and the rest of our party got the catch of the day, which was grouper caught that day (and you could tell by the taste). The environment was cozy and intimate, and the extensive, creative menu sure makes it hard to choose! Strongly recommend this place!

Had a very nice experience here. Excellent service, suculent snapper dish with crisp sauvignon blanc. Tables are ample and nicely spaced. When I first pulled up it was hard to know if they were open from outside signage and lighting but I am glad I went in.

My husband and I were driving down the coast of GA and FL checking out small islands and beaches. I saw this place on yelp and thought it sounded like the perfect place for our last dinner together before we picked our kids back up from their grandparents. We were pretty disappointed. Let me list the reasons. 1. A place called BarZin Bistro and WINE BAR says to me that they are wine specialists. The red wines on their menu were about 6 deep. What? And I had heard of ALL of the wines. Nothing special here.....same thing I can buy at any grocery store. 2. When I asked the waitress if there were other wines not listed, she showed us a few bottles, but it became clear very quickly that she nothing about wine. Again--if you want to call yourself a Wine Bar, your waitstaff should be knowledgeable about wine. 3. I don't mind paying for good bottle of wine, but don't mark up the grocery store wine beyond the standard 3X. That's just rude. 4. On to dinner. A big disappointment. I ordered the risotto of the day (mushroom). It had a good flavor, but it was undercooked and crunchy. Not what you're looking for in risotto. My husband ordered chicken marsala. It was nothing special and served over a plate of penne noodles. 5. My husband and I are 42. We sat down to dinner at 6, and by 6:30, the average age of the restaurant clientele was at least 75-80. Not that there's anything wrong with that.....and we were in Florida.....but it's not the swanky wine bar that I was expecting. 6. Maybe my expectations are too high? We live in a Chicago suburb and have a lot available to us. Maybe for a Wine Bar in a retirement community in Florida it's not so bad. But if you don't have grey hair and you enjoy good food and even better wine, I would look elsewhere.

I visited BarZin once several months ago with friends and had the risotto. I loved it and promised myself I'd be back. Last night I went with my mom, and we had a great time. The service was amazing (Thank you Cassie!), and it had a wonderful atmosphere. Mom and I enjoyed everything we ate including the shrip brucetta, the French Country Salad, and the duck and rice pilaf special. They said they were adding the duck to their full time menu, and I highly recommend it. The sauce was amazing! I'm going to have a hard time ordering next time because I'm sure I'll be craving that duck and the sauce, but there were so many other things I wanted to try. I can't wait to go back!

Great dinner here with friends. There were so many good selections that we had a hard time choosing. Finally settled on the special pasta, the special pot pie, the fish special and the seafood gumbo. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was extremely professional. We loved Bar Zin and will go back again.

Another great meal I had dinner for the 2nd time in two weeks Everything was great. Service was friendly. Great wines. You must try.

A large group of us (17) came here for dinner last night and had an incredible dinner! The service was good. A little scattered but there were 17 of us after all. The servers were attentive and helpful, very professional. Cannot comment on the wine personally but the rest of our party seemed very satisfied with the selection. Started with the Tuna Tartar appetizer. This was EASILY the best I have had. Tasted very fresh, great texture and amazingly refreshing. I had the Sea Bass w/truffle mash, Lobster Spring Rolls, Shrimp and veggies. It was perfect. Perfectly cooked and not overly seasoned. Just a well balanced, nicely presented dish. We stayed past closing but the staff were very accommodating and did not make us feel rushed out. I would come back here for the food alone!

My husband and I came here while on vacation and loved it! We sat outside on the beautiful porch and enjoyed great wine, food and service. Our server, Damion, was warm, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic (we had the Lobster Spring Rolls, Salmon Tartare, Sea Bass & Crab Cakes) and they serve yummy warm bread and olive oil. My only negative was that the wine seemed slightly overpriced for what it was. All in all, a great experience - we'll definitely be back on our next visit!

awesome place, garlic fries were great, tuna tar tar was ok, cheese plate was served a spicy bread that was just amazing. our waiter was the best, he even made me a desert sampler because i couldnt decide between the chocolate cake and the cheese cale. they both were great. i would go here again, they even have an outdoor area.

My husband and I were looking forward to our evening at this restaurant based on all the reviews and hype surrounding it. We love a good wine bar so this seemed to be right up our alley. The staff was very friendly; indeed we were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in the door. As a matter of fact, the manager/owner asked if he knew us because he said we seemed familiar. We assured him this was our first visit to his restaurant and also our first time on Amelia Island. We were seated in a back room and were handed several different menus. Our waitress happily told us about all of the specials and then proceeded to tell us how we could create any meal we wanted with any of the ingredients on the menu. She told us that the Pot Pie they create is one of their specialties and although it comes a certain way, we can make any changes to it we wish. I have to say the menu was quite confusing to me as I couldn't tell if this was a French-style bistro, a tapas bar, a southern-style comfort food restaurant or a burger place. So we proceeded to look over the wine list. Imagine my surprise to find all the usual suspects that I can easily pick up in my neighborhood grocery store for under $15.00 a bottle. There was nothing on that wine list I hadn't already tried and was so disappointed that we wouldn't be able to try anything new. They only served wine, beer and saki, so I decided to get a glass of the Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc. A safe bet, but nothing special. My husband ordered the Sea Bass and out came a square of fish surrounded by obviously frozen vegetables. It was obvious to us both (I tasted it, too) that the fish was previously frozen, too. He asked the waitress to take it back and after apologizing profusely the owner came over to speak to us. He was polite but clearly offended that we were sending food back. He was adamant that all the fish they serve is fresh caught the very same day and that perhaps the chef somehow messed up the preparation. I am telling you there is no way this fish was fresh caught that day - it was in a square. I had a chicken dish that was covered in a very thick sauce. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. It was at least edible. And the thing that bothered me the most is that the owner was wearing so much cologne, it was difficult to breathe. Any professional in the food business will tell you that is a no-no. I feel badly even writing such a negative review. I know how hard it is to run your own business and the restaurant business is the most challenging of them all. But we went into this restaurant expecting a relaxing wine bar and tapas experience. Instead it was more like a local family restaurant that catered to people not used to drinking good wine or eating great food. I felt badly for the waitress because she really wanted us to have a great time. It wasn't her fault the food and drink were just not up to par. Yes, there is passion there, but alas, you need more than passion. I am thinking all the great reviews are because of their friendliness, not the food and drink.

Went during happy hour. Great wine selection! Really fantastic appetizers (so I imagine the dinner is just as good. Great, friendly, prompt staff! Can't wait to try Sunday brunch.

If you are from out of town and just want a good tasting lunch with out worrying if you need a tetanus shot after, this is the place. Everything prepared correctly, fresh, and above the diner experience. The food itself was reasonably priced, except wine like others have said. I had a beer but other members in my party could not resist the vino no matter what price. Portions were moderate but if the food has good tastes/seasoning I don't need to pig out. Menu was small which means they spent more effort on doing a couple of things right instead of a lot of things wrong. Cleanliness was average to above average.

Food is spectacular. Don't miss the sea bass our grilled Romain salad with fried oysters and brie. Server was very nice but didn't know anythying about wine [strange for a wine bar I think] other than "white with seafood and red with meat...other'n that Ah don't know much about it"
(4)Elaine H.
Barzin is one of our favorites on the island. We always sit outside as we can't resist the lovely Live Oak canopy the graces the verandah and fire pit area. We enjoy the selection of wine, creative dishes and the owner,Tim, who is always charming and present. Lunch or dinner...always relaxing and a nice meal.

We sat on the porch this evening and it was a fantastic dining experience. Damion is a world class server. The wine he suggested was very nice and paired with our meals perfectly. Apps were specials: Salmon Tartare and Seafood Spring Rolls. I had the Sea Bass special and the wife had Crab Cakes. Everything was great, will definitely be back.

Dined here for the second time tonight. Food is good, nice service. Two points that keep it from being higher rated: 1) - I was charged $12 for a glass of wine that, when I checked it out, retails for only $15.00 a bottle. Quite a bit more than the normal and customary 100% markup for wine..., and 2) bread was stale
(3)Les S.
Last evening 3 of us, here from Boston, had a memorable dinners here. Shrimp brucetta & spring rolls were excellent. Duck, red snapper & grouper dinners were all great. Service ( Betsy) top shelf. Highly recommend. Bon apertif!--Boston Cappy
(5)Ingrid H.
Stopped in for a glass and a couple of appetizers. The wine was a little expensive, but the apps were wonderful. We had a couple of the chef's choice - the seared scallops and the spring rolls. We are already planning for a second visit during our stay. I also tried one of the saketini's.. a little different flavor, but good.
(4)John H.
One of the friendliest atmospheres on the Island. Food is fresh and delicious. Great for a casual bite to eat or full date night. Large wine selection, seasonal selections and made from scratch entries. Located on the south end of Amelia Island.

My mom held her wedding reception here last October on the outside patio and BarZin truly made this an event to remember! The wait staff that was assigned to our party was awesome, some of the best service I have ever received. I wish I could remember the names of those individuals that served us because I would ask for them personally everytime. Not sure if it had anything to do with the fact that I was the daughter of the bride but my glass was never half empty before it was refreshed again and they always made sure my mom was satisfied with when the different courses of our meal were coming out. The food was also great and was served in quite a timely manner. My Grandfather has dietary restrictions and they were able to accomodate his needs as well with no issues which is always much appreciated. If you are looking to have a small reception in a quaint location, this is your place! Good times were had by all and this is in large part to the staff at BarZin. I will definitely be back when I make it back to town.
